Umbracle: One of Valencia's Best Spots!

One of my favourite places in Valencia is Umbracle, a huge steel arched walk way in the centre of the city of arts and sciences. One hundred and nine, eighteen metre high arches make up this incredible structure which stands proudly next to the Hemisfèric and the Museo de la Ciencias Príncipe Felipe. The arches, half of them fixed and half of them floating, create an area inside of 17,500m². This area is used mainly as a type of botanical garden with more than 100 palm trees and thousand of plants and flowers: some native to the Valencian region, some that typically grow in the Mediterranean and others which have more tropical origins. Here you will also find a space which is used for art exhibitions so there is plenty for you to see! For me Umbracle is a place that every traveller to Valencia should visit and there is always interesting events taking place to give you the perfect excuse! If you are planning to be in Barcelona tomorrow and are a football fan, don’t miss out on the 50th edition of the Joan Gamper Trophy. FC Barcelona’s legendary season starter is back, giving fans the first opportunity to see their new first team starting line-up! This friendly match, which takes place every year, attracts thousands of fans to Camp Nou stadium to watch Barcelona take on opponents from all over the world. This year Barça will be playing AS Roma and the rivalry will be rife as Roma will be bringing with them former Barcelona teammate Seydou Keita. The battle for the trophy begins at 10:00pm however activities will be taking place all day.
