Plaza de Espana | Seville
Plaza de España
Plaza de España is one of the
places you MUST see on your visit to Seville. It has
been recently renovated so even if you did see it before you should
definitely check
it out again. It’s one of the most visited and photographed places in Seville. It’s
situated on the edge of the park Maria Luisa (cool place for a picnic
after).
The Plaza de España was
designed by Aníbal González and constructed for the Latin American Expo (Exposición
Ibero-Americana) of 1929. It has two 80 metre high towers joined by a
gallery with arches which look down onto a semi-circular display of brightly
tiled sections - each one displaying the map and cultural objects and motifs
from the Spanish Regions arranged in alphabetical order. Government offices are
housed in the building and you can also visit the War museum.
