The Holy Week in Christianity is the last week of Lent and the week before Easter. In Spain, a country of great Catholic tradition, is especially celebrated this date in the festive calendar, and it is the busiest time of the liturgical year. Each region of the country keeps the tradition of their celebrations alive, through crowded masses and processions. Although there are differences from one region to another, the fraternities and sororities are those responsible for organizing the Easter marches. The processions are accompanied by their images with their steps, representing the Passion of Christ. In these figures we can see processions as important as that of the penitents, which with their conical hats and robes the color of his Holy Brotherhood, ask forgiveness and give thanks to Jesus.
Easter marks the end of Lent for Christians, a period of withdrawal where the flesh has been denied. During these days the most persistent food and that have reached our days as a sweet tradition, were the eggs and breads.
In Spain we have different traditions as well. They eat toast, sweets made with bread, in many places. Catalonia is a very popular eating Mona Easter Holy Week in Palma de Mallorca will taste the delicious "panades", in Valencia the Easter sausage.
